How to dress for this pandemic

Staying at home in your pajamas and pang-bahay is great and comfortable. Nothing feels so much better than wearing your coziest and comfiest shirts paired with some fluffy and cool bottoms. But how exactly are you going to dress when you finally decide to step outside and actually venture through the streets?

Something simple, chic, yet affordable. Clothing best suited for your body type and for the modern dalaga. Here are some classic staples

1. The Pleated Skirt

Paired with some of your preferred flats or mules.

Something so simple, easily kept and photogenic. This skirt paired with monochromatic colors is like an old fashion magazine, vintage yet classy. One glance of this piece makes your whole look so elegant and sophisticated. No need to accessorize with a lot of jewelry. Keep it minimalistic. The modern filipina is not over extravagant, yet she isn’t ordinary either. Graceful and eye catching. Something that gives strangers the once-over after they’ve checked your temperature.

2. That Summer dress

That cool color scheme with pastel or neutrals compliments skin tones

We all have that one summer dress. That we swear to only wear during summer or on hot occasions. Why not wear it now? Give it a certain accessory or bag. Grab some of your kitten heels and fancy yourself smiles and looks as you walk flawlessly, greeted with glances for such a feminine-esque choice.

Worried about showing too much skin? Opt for dresses that cover your arms in the middle, something short sleeved but not totally sleeveless if your not suited to that type.

Choose what you think best compliments your body, choose a dress that best suits you.

3. Jeans

How should I start? Mom jeans? Skinny jeans? Girlfriend jeans? Boyfriend jeans? So much to choose. But how do you exactly fashion your outfits using jeans that are actually a bit lousy and somewhat fitted. Mom jeans. How does one exactly wear them?

I’ll give you one simple advice when wearing pants that are trousers-like. Never wear them with lousy shirts or ill fitting tops. Wearing loose clothing on loose jeans disregards your total cute look and makes it look like a simple pang-bahay. It looks too effortless. Almost like you never wanted to wear proper clothing in the first place.

Go for a more fitted top, something that shows off your nice pale skin from staying inside and something that doesn’t clash with your faded hair color. Since its been two months since your latest hair appointment. Wearing white sneakers is also optional but totally cute. You would want to be able to run in case an emergency pursuit happens.

Make it look like you own these mom jeans, polished and chic.

4. Sleeveless Tops with White Bottoms

Summer maybe almost over and maybe we didn’t have the chance to spend most of it outside or on the beach. But wearing something casual and cool is perfect for this weather. Just remember to only wear sleeveless tops in places that are not too over crowded with people. You wouldn’t want to get any sort of germs passed on through your open and exposed sleeve.

In fact, maybe only wear this outfit in an enclosed environment with close family and friends. You want to have positive feedback on your clothes not on your swab tests.

5. The Essentials and must-haves

Never forget to wear your masks, and make sure to carry a bag that can fit all your needs during this pandemic. Such as hand sanitizers, extra masks, ID, lipstick — ditch the lipstick instead, unless you’re going for the smeared look inside your mask, opt for lip stain instead —and rubbing alcohol, as well as your signature perfume. Hoping that someone actually smells it through their masks.

Choose something that is handy yet cute, not too oversized yet not too small that you can barely fit some sanitary tissue. Make sure that your bag can be easily carried when you are being rushed or running towards safety.

Never forget to wear eye shield, you don’t want to be having a nice conversation with someone and get covid positive feedback instead.

Some reflective shades or pretty frames could easily complete your look when dressing for this pandemic.

Who is the modern dalaga?

The modern dalaga? Who is she? Is she the woman we sit next to during class? The one we coincidentally encounter in coffee shops? The woman who stands tall yet remain secretive and mysterious to the ever alluring eye?

Needless to say, we may issue into account how we may have indeed come in contact with the shy yet ever so feminine character who exudes magnetic energy.

  • Yet, how does she? Is it by her desire to achieve such grace and modesty? Or is it by her actions and movements that she becomes easily spotted in the ever thinning crowd of modern women?
  • In this blog, we shall be discussing how a modern dalagang pilipina can achieve that grace and always remain eye catching, elegant, thought-spinning, whilst not shying away from our traditions. I have come to discuss and share my thoughts on how we — as modern filipinas— become a staple to the ever changing world where women slowly become more ambitious. Aspiring. Desirable. Stunning.
  • A modern dalaga, gliding effortlessly towards the gilded society, making their marks and smiling back as she leaves everyone in awe by the reveal of her intelligence that she grasps in her slim fingers like the fan she once held during the age where she has come to be.
